Plaza del Caño Parking

Parking Plaza del Caño is located at Plaza del Caño, 2, in the heart of Galapagar’s town centre, just a few metres from Plaza de la Constitución. Its location makes it the most convenient option for leaving your vehicle if you need to run errands, go shopping or spend the day in the town, as it is surrounded by shops, banks, pharmacies, restaurants and Galapagar’s main public institutions.

The car park has 2 entrances and 1 exit, with Equinsa control equipment and 2 payment machines. The maximum height permitted for access is 2.1 metres, and it currently does not have a lift for moving between floors.

Parking Plaza del Caño operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can enter and collect your vehicle at any time. It has a complete CCTV surveillance system, ensuring the security of your vehicle throughout your stay.

Regarding rates, it offers a maximum daily rate of €7.90, except during the Galapagar festivities and the Christmas period, when this flat rate does not apply. There are no different rates depending on vehicle type or time of day.

For those who need to park regularly, the car park offers several types of package:

• 24-hour package
• Commercial package, Monday to Saturday from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm
• Night package, Monday to Friday from 9:30 pm to 7:30 am, and Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 24 hours
• Motorcycle package

Package holders can renew their package directly at the payment machines or by direct debit, and their licence plate is registered in the access system, in addition to having a physical backup card. The access control system uses licence plate recognition both when entering and leaving.

The car park currently does not have electric vehicle charging spaces or additional services such as vehicle washing or maintenance, and spaces are rarely completely full, so parking management is conventional.

• Galapagar Land Registry (C. del Caño, 16), in the same building as the car park — responsible for the registration and consultation of property records in the municipality.
• Ricardo León Municipal Library (Plaza de la Constitución, 3) — public library with reading and study rooms, as well as regular exhibitions, talks and book clubs.
• Galapagar Town Hall (Plaza del Presidente Adolfo Suárez) — seat of the municipal government, for registration, taxes, licences and other administrative procedures.
• Post Office (C. Soberanía, 21) — sending and collecting parcels and correspondence, as well as standard postal services.

Monuments:

• Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción (Plaza de la Iglesia), just a few minutes’ walk away — a church built between 1487 and 1513, with three naves separated by columns and round arches, combining Gothic and Renaissance elements. It has been rebuilt and expanded on several occasions after suffering two historic sackings, during the Napoleonic invasion and the Spanish Civil War.
• El Rollo or Picota, in the historic centre — symbol of the town charter granted by Charles V to Galapagar in 1525, and one of the municipality’s most distinctive heritage elements.
• Plaza de la Constitución, the social and historic heart of the town, a meeting point and the centre of much of everyday life in Galapagar.

The car park also provides validation tickets for restaurants and businesses in the area that request them, making parking easier for customers visiting nearby restaurants or businesses.

In addition to its heritage in the town centre itself, Galapagar is an excellent starting point for exploring the natural surroundings of the Sierra de Guadarrama, a short drive from Parking Plaza del Caño:

• Valmayor Reservoir — the second-largest reservoir in the province of Madrid by water volume, very popular for walks, routes along the water and landscape photography.
• Mount Abantos — one of the best-known peaks in the Sierra de Guadarrama, with hiking routes of different levels and panoramic views over the surrounding area.
• Regional Park of the Middle Course of the Guadarrama River — a protected natural area with forests, pastures and rocky outcrops, ideal for hiking and cycling along the river.
• San Roque Park — a green area within the municipality itself, perfect for a quiet walk or a break outdoors without leaving Galapagar.
