Parking in the Historic Centre of Las Palmas

Parking Monopol – Triana is located in the Monopol Shopping Centre, C. Lentini, 35002 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, just a few metres from Calle Mayor de Triana and the historic district of Vegueta. This location makes it an ideal car park for those who wish to go shopping, visit museums, enjoy local gastronomy or attend cultural events in the city centre.

Parking Features

The car park has one entrance lane and one exit lane, managed by Equinsa control systems with priority access through licence plate recognition, which speeds up vehicle entry and exit. The maximum permitted height is 2.10 metres of clearance, suitable for cars and most family vehicles. Currently, there are no payment machines in operation, although the installation of one is planned in the near future to make payment easier for users.

Two lifts connect the car park directly with the upper floors of the Monopol Shopping Centre, providing convenient access to shops as well as leisure and dining areas. Parking space management is carried out in a standard way: customers park in any available space, keep their keys, and access control is handled through electronic systems.

Opening Hours and Operation

Parking Monopol – Triana does not currently operate 24 hours a day. Opening hours are from Monday to Wednesday from 8:30 am to 12:00 midnight, and from Thursday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 am. The car park remains closed overnight outside these hours and on public holidays, with gates closed for added security. It is expected that this operating model will be reviewed in the near future to better adapt to the needs of the area and the surrounding nightlife.

Rates and Subscriptions

The car park operates with a time-based parking rate, but prices may vary, so it is recommended to always check the updated rates on the official website or directly at the parking control centre. At present, there is no differentiation in rates by vehicle type or time slots, although these conditions may change over time.

The implementation of different subscription options for frequent users is planned, including a 24h/7 subscription, a 12-hour weekday subscription, and a night-time subscription during the week and at weekends. These are designed for residents, local workers and regular users of the historic centre. To find out prices, specific conditions and availability of subscriptions, it is advisable to request up-to-date information in person or through the official contact channels.

Reservations and Contracting

Currently, subscriptions and related parking products can be arranged in person or via the parking’s website. The access control system prioritises automatic licence plate recognition, avoiding the use of physical tickets and enabling faster, more convenient access to the facilities. To formalise a reservation or subscription, information such as the user’s name, vehicle licence plate and contact details may be required.

Security and Surveillance

Parking Monopol – Triana is equipped with security cameras throughout the facilities, as well as on-site staff during opening hours. During closing periods, the gates remain shut, increasing the level of protection for parked vehicles. These measures are complemented by electronic access control systems that record entries and exits.

Special Services

At present, the car park does not offer electric vehicle charging points, nor does it provide additional services such as car washing or basic maintenance. There are also no specific agreements in place with nearby hotels, restaurants or events, although this possibility remains open for the future

Location in Triana and Vegueta

Parking Monopol is located in a privileged area between the neighbourhoods of Triana and Vegueta, two of the most historic and commercially vibrant areas of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Calle Mayor de Triana is a pedestrian street recognised as one of the best open-air shopping areas in Spain, combining major brands, designer boutiques, bookshops, toy stores, jewellery shops and shoe shops in restored buildings of traditional Canarian architecture. Just a few minutes’ walk away is Vegueta, the city’s founding district, with cobbled streets, historic squares and a lively cultural agenda throughout the year.

Nearby Museums and Cultural Spaces

From the car park, several of the city’s most important museums and cultural centres can be reached on foot in just a few minutes:

The Museo Canario (C/ Dr. Verneau, 2), dedicated to the archaeology and history of the ancient inhabitants of Gran Canaria, with collections of aboriginal artefacts, ceramics and anthropological remains that provide insight into the islands’ prehistory.

The Casa de Colón (C/ Colón, 1), a historic museum located in a group of traditional houses where, according to tradition, Christopher Columbus stayed. It features exhibitions on Atlantic voyages, cartography and relations between Europe and the Americas.

The Museo Diocesano de Arte Sacro (C/ Espíritu Santo, 20), which houses an important collection of Renaissance and Baroque religious art, as well as goldsmith works and liturgical pieces linked to the Cathedral of the Canary Islands.

The Gabinete Literario (Plaza de Cairasco, 1), an elegant 19th-century building with a vibrant cultural life, hosting literary events, exhibitions and concerts, and also featuring a café and event spaces.

The Museo Castillo de Mata (C/ Domingo Guerra del Río, 147), a former defensive fortress converted into a museum about the history of the city and its relationship with the sea, with exhibitions and educational activities.

Together, these venues form a comprehensive cultural route that can be comfortably enjoyed by leaving the car at Parking Monopol – Triana and exploring the historic centre on foot.

Landmarks and Iconic Buildings Nearby

Several of the most representative monuments and buildings of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are located close to the car park:

The Cathedral of the Canary Islands (Plaza Santa Ana), a majestic cathedral mainly in Gothic and Neoclassical styles, located in the emblematic Plaza de Santa Ana, from where visitors can enjoy views of the historic districts and the famous dog sculptures guarding the square.

Las Palmas City Hall, the historic 17th-century building located at C/ Triana No. 2, on the corner with Lentini, is very close to the car park and is set to become an important tourist information and assistance point.

In addition, the network of pedestrian streets, small squares, churches and traditional houses that make up the urban landscape of Triana and Vegueta are ideal for strolling and discovering the city’s history and architecture.
